The pitch at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) was the talk of the town after the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The unusual green surface and variable bounce created ideal conditions for the bowlers, who dominated the two-and-a-half days of play.

Despite criticism from some players, India head coach Gautam Gambhir described the pitch as "spicy" and fit for Test cricket. The ICC rated it "satisfactory", noting that the SCG's unique characteristics add intrigue to the game.

Cricket Australia chairman Peter Roach stressed that the aim was to create pitches that provide a balance between attack and defence, and praised the SCG's approach to preparation this year.
