To shine at the 2036 Olympics, India must invest in young talent now.

Indian hockey legend PR Sreejesh believes that if India aims for Olympic glory in 2036, the groundwork must begin today. “If we’re talking about 2036, we need to start nurturing talent aged 12-14 now,” he emphasized.

As India prepares to potentially host the Olympics, new sports facilities are rising in Ahmedabad. But Sreejesh warns that infrastructure alone isn’t enough—the real focus should be on guiding young athletes to the world stage.

The two-time Olympic bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 stressed the importance of mental resilience: “The Olympics aren’t just about physical endurance; they’re about handling pressure.”

Beyond medals, India must foster a lasting sports culture — one that not only produces champions but also builds a strong foundation for future generations to thrive in athletics.
