Kiran George: Perseverance Wins at India Open
Kiran George has once again proven that it’s not just technique that counts, but also mental strength, especially when the stakes are high.
Kiran George showed determination and resilience in his match against Japan’s Yushi Tanaki at the India Open, winning 21-19, 14-21, 27-25 in the third game. The Indian, ranked 38th in the world, bounced back from a second-game loss and fought until the end, holding off Tanaki’s three match points.
Kiran admitted that he has to work on his mental and physical aspects to finish matches. After failing to convert match points in the past at major tournaments, George has adopted new strategies that have paid off. As a result, he won in an hour and 11 minutes and is now preparing for a second-round match with Alex Lanier.
