India's Bid to Host the 2030 Commonwealth Games

India is eager to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games and is pushing to reinstate the sports removed from the 2026 edition in Glasgow. Key events like hockey, wrestling, cricket, and shooting were excluded from the 2026 program, and India's primary aim is to preserve its medal tally by bringing these back.
The Ministry of Sports plans to submit an Expression of Interest before the March 31 deadline. Beyond the 2030 Games, India is also targeting the 2036 Olympic Games, having already sent a letter of intent to the International Olympic Committee.
This push to host major sporting events highlights India’s ambition to strengthen its position as a global sporting hub. After last hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2010, the country now looks forward to welcoming these prestigious games back to its shores.
