Gavaskar Criticizes KL Rahul’s Tactics in First ODI

Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has openly criticized KL Rahul’s batting approach during India’s first ODI against England in Nagpur on February 6. Despite India comfortably chasing 249, Rahul’s cautious gameplay backfired, leading to his early dismissal.
Rahul walked in after Axar Patel’s solid 52-run knock but adopted a defensive stance to allow Shubman Gill to reach his century. This strategy proved costly, as Rahul managed just two runs off nine balls before chipping a catch back to Adil Rashid. Shortly after, Gill was dismissed for 87.
Gavaskar emphasized that cricket is a team game and players shouldn’t go into a shell. Fortunately, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja took India over the finish line in 38.4 overs. The next match in Cuttack on February 9 is crucial for England to stay in the series.
