The chess player will start his 2025 season at the Tata Steel Masters tournament in the Netherlands.

Young Indian chess player and the youngest world chess champion, D. Gukesh, has expressed his desire to see chess as an Olympic sport, believing it will take the game to a new level. He also said that he dreams of competing in the Olympics if India gets the right to host the 2036 Games.

Gukesh shared his thoughts at an All India Chess Federation event in New Delhi, where he was awarded a prize of 1 crore rupees for winning the 2024 World Championship. Chess has its own Olympics, where India won gold medals in men's and women's in 2024, but the sport is not yet part of the Olympic program.

“I want chess to be a part of the Olympics, especially if it is held in India,” Gukesh said.
