Royals Test India & Massey in the Outfield: A Bold Spring Experiment
The Kansas City Royals plan to experiment with player positions during spring training. The team wants to evaluate how Jonathan India and Michael Masi perform in the outfield. India, whom the Royals acquired from the Cincinnati Reds, is an experienced second baseman, but his appearance in the lineup has created competition for Masi, who also plays that position.
General manager J.J. Piccolo noted that both players are ready to test themselves in left field. This will allow the Royals to keep their powerful bats in the lineup, especially with other key offensive players such as Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez.
Spring training will be a time for experimentation. The coaching staff will evaluate how quickly India and Masi adapt to their new roles to create the best combination to protect the team in the 2025 MLB season.
