India stuns the Olympic champions with a comeback and shootout victory — never count them out!

The Indian women’s hockey team pulled off a stunning win against the reigning Olympic champions, Netherlands, in a shootout after a 2-2 draw in regulation time. 

The Netherlands had a 2-0 lead at halftime thanks to goals from Pien Sanders and Fay van der Elst. India made a strong comeback with goals from Deepika and Baljeet Kaur in the second half. In the shootout, Deepika and Mumtaz Khan scored for India, while Marijn Veen was the only scorer for the Netherlands.

This win ended India's home leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25 on a high note, after a loss in the first leg.
