For the first time, India will receive full government funding for participation in the Winter Olympic Games.

The Indian government has approved the participation of an 88-member Indian contingent in the 9th Asian Winter Games 2025, to be held from 7 to 14 February in Harbin, China. The team comprises 59 athletes and 29 officials.

For the first time, the government is providing full funding under the ANSF program for athletes competing in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, short-track speed skating, and speed skating. The decision underlines the government’s commitment to the development of winter sports and creates opportunities for Indian athletes at the international level.

The financial support also reflects a transparent and merit-based approach to sports governance. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports extended its best wishes to the team and reaffirmed its commitment to the development of winter sports in India.
