Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the Purple Cap twice in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. His Indian Premier League (IPL) career began in 2009 with RCB, but he did not play a single match in his two-season stint. He later played for Pune Warriors, where he struggled to make an impact. However, his career took a turn in 2014 when he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad, becoming a key player and helping the team secure the 2016 title.

For IPL 2025, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is returning to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who acquired him at the mega auction for ₹10.75 crore. The auction took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and his base price was ₹2 crore.

Over his career, he has played 176 matches, taken 181 wickets, and maintained an economy rate of 7.56. In the 2024 season, he took 11 wickets in 16 matches.
