Bopanna and Zhang gaining momentum in the mixed doubles at the Australian Open — who will stop their journey to the trophy?

Rohan Bopanna and Shuai Zhang continue their run in the mixed doubles at the Australian Open 2025, securing a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Ivan Dodig and Kristyna Pliskova. The Indo-Chinese duo, who completed the match in 1 hour and 12 minutes, will now face the winners of the match between Taylor Townsend and Hugo Nys, and the Australian wildcards Madison Inglis and Jason Kuber.

In the first set, Bopanna and Zhang quickly gained a 3-0 lead, but their opponents fought back, narrowing the gap to 3-2 after a break of Zhang’s serve. Despite the pressure, Bopanna held strong, clinching the first set. In the second set, they saved several break points and won 6-4.

Unfortunately, for some other Indian players, the tournament did not go as smoothly. Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth were unable to make it past the first round in the men’s doubles, losing 6-2, 6-2.
