Clive Lloyd Slams Two-Tier Test System Proposal
The former captain of the West Indies national team, Clive Lloyd, has strongly opposed the introduction of a two-tier system in Test cricket. He considers it unfair for countries who struggled a lot to achieve Test status. In an interview with the Trinidad & Tobago Guardian, Lloyd stressed that it would create serious problems for those countries that have worked hard to achieve such status.
Lloyd also rejected former ICC chairman Greg Barclay's idea of disbanding the West Indies as a single team. Instead of radical reforms he suggested that countries should be provided with equal funding for infrastructure development and improving conditions for playing cricket.
Lloyd has also criticized the format of the Test World Cup, calling it chaotic and disorganized.
